1.
Installing QuickBooksTM on the workstation or
server which will function as the QuickBooks database
file server, and setting file sharing permissions.
2.
Installing all QuickBooksTM services on the
host server.
3.
Installing QuickBooksTM on all client
workstations.
4. Mapping
drives and setting user permissions on the client PCs.
5. A drive
mapping script which will run at scheduled intervals, to prevent
the drive mapping from dropping during periods of
inactivity..
6. Setting
usernames, passwords, and permissions.
7. Setting
up a local and/or remote backup system for your QuickBooksTM
data.
8. When a
remote user tries to connect to QuickBooks over a
VPN, QuickBook's large network packet size results in
very slow performance, and this configuration is
therefore not supported by Intuit. A much better
alternative that is supported by QuickBooks is to set up
remote desktop so that the user can remotely connect to
his or her business PC (and thereby QuickBooks). We can setup
your office PC to allow you to connect to it from home
or on the road.
9. If you
have one or more remote users who do not have a
dedicated PC in your office, but who need to be able to connect
to QuickBooks simultaneously, you do not need to
purchase a separate PC for each person to connect
remotely to. Instead, an inexpensive solution is to
install one or more virtual machines (running a version
of Windows which supports Remote Desktop) on a single
PC. Then all remote users can simultaneously connect to their
virtual machines (and thereby QuickBooks) via remote
desktop.
