New Computer Setup and File Transfer (Business or Home)

We provide new computer installation and configuration for seamless integration into your home or office  network. This can include any or all of the following according to your needs:

• Providing a reputable low voltage wiring contractor to run a new line from your switch to a new Ethernet wall outlet. We can often provide a low voltage contractor within a day. The price is typically $125 per line.
• Providing patch cords.
• Unpacking and setting up the PC
• Setting up your new computer for network and internet access, including a static or dynamic IP address.
• Adding the PC, username and password to Active Directory Services on your Windows server (if you have one)
• Setting up or moving the user profile(s)
• Moving data and email from your old computer to your new one
• Setting up user names and passwords (which we document for you)
• Activating Windows
• Downloading and installing the latest windows security service packs and security patches.
• Transferring Microsoft Office from your old PC to your new one
• Installing applications (including network applications) needed for your business
• Installing local and network printers, faxes and scanners
• Sharing printers
• Mapping network drives
• Installing antivirus software
• Setting up the PC for remote access if desired, including IP mapping on the router
• Tying cables so that there is not a tangle of wires behind the desk

If there is an existing Ethernet wall outlet, or a nearby hub or switch, and there are no files or email to be transferred from an old PC, the job can often be completed within an hour. Additional labor to transfer files, email, and install programs can take an additional 1-7 hours, depending on the volume and size of the files and the number of applications to be installed.

Cost: $65/hr plus parts or cable drops within our Free Delivery Zone. Outside of it, $75 for the first hour, and $65/hr thereafter.
