Backup Solutions
What would you do if you
lost your valuable data? We can recommend, install and configure
the best backup solution for your needs and budget.
Solutions I have implemented for
my customers include:
- Network Attached Storage
(NAS) backup appliances. An affordable
starting backup solution for small businesses is the
Iomega StorCenter ix2-200, pictured below. With 1 TB
of network attached storage, it has RAID 1, so that
if either of its two hard drives crashes, there is mirror copy of
it remaining. The cost is
only $210 for the appliance, plus the labor required
to configure the backups and/or file synchronization
on your client PCs.
- Setting up the native Windows
7 or SBS 2008 backup service to backup to an
external drive or a mapped network drive.
- Offsite backups over the
internet.
- Writing a backup batch script
to automatically run daily to USB drives or portable
hard drives which you switch out daily and take
off-site.
- Tape backup solutions.
- Mission Critical PC
Backup. If you have a mission
critical server or workstation which hosts a vital
database or network application which you cannot
afford to have down, what would be the cost to your
business if it crashed? We have a unique solution
that can give you wonderful peace of mind: Here it
is:
- We configure a substitute
PC (or virtual machine) with the same OS and
applications as your mission critical PC. The
substitute PC need not be as expensive as
the original.
- Each night a batch script will
run to copy the database and files from the mission
critical PC to it's substitute.
- If your mission
critical PC goes down, all you have to do is change
the IP address of the clone using easy to follow
printed instructions posted next to the clone. Your
business will be back and running again in only a few minutes, versus the
hours or days that might otherwise
be required to purchase, install & configure
another mission critical system again.
Cost: $65/hr
plus parts for on-site assessment and installation
within our free delivery
zone. Outside the zone, the
cost is $75 for the first hour, and $65/hr thereafter.
